A Stoke Gifford grandmother has died after suffering a broken neck in a bus accident in Filton last week, reports the Bristol Post.
Barbara McCracken, 88, of North Road, was a passenger on a number 18 bus that was forced to brake sharply when a car reportedly drove across its path at the junction of Southmead Road and Golf Course Lane (pictured) in Filton on Wednesday 16th May.
One of two passengers on the bus, Mrs McCracken was thrown forward and hit her head on the back of the seat in front of her. She suffered a broken neck and passed away two days later at Frenchay Hospital, with family at her bedside.
Police say they are still trying to trace the owner of the car involved in the incident, described as “a small dark coloured, rusty brown vehicle”. Anyone able to help is asked to contact the force’s collision investigation unit on 101.
A former civil servant, Mrs McCracken enjoyed reading, doing crosswords and tending to her garden. She worshipped at St Michael’s Church, where she made many friends and enjoyed her times with the Link group, says The Post.
Mrs McCracken’s funeral will be held at St Michael’s, at 11.30am, next Tuesday (29th May).
