South Glos Council is consulting on a radical ‘masterplan’ for the transformation of Bristol Parkway that would see it change from simply being a place to access the rail network to a “valued destination” that incorporates work places, cafes, restaurants, homes, community facilities and parks. There would be a new, relocated station building and a reduction in car parking provision.

South Gloucestershire Council has confirmed that Gipsy Patch Lane will reopen to two-way traffic by 6am on Monday (8th August) and is asking drivers to be aware of a new signal-controlled junction on the route. The junction between Titan Road, Gipsy Patch Lane and Rolls-Royce’s Gate 5 access is now configured as a staggered junction with traffic light control.

Disruptive three-way temporary traffic signals on North Road, Stoke Gifford, look set to be in operation until Friday 19th August, the Journal can reveal. Wales & West Utilities, who are carrying out work to “upgrade the gas network in Stoke Gifford”, say the scheme is “essential to keep the gas flowing safely and reliably to local homes and businesses…”.

Wain Homes has opened the doors to three show homes at its Mulgrove Farm Village development in Stoke Gifford, where 150 dwellings are being constructed. The site forms part of the planned East of Harry Stoke New Neighbourhood where a total of 2,000 homes are to be built in the coming years. Access to the site is off Parkway North Roundabout.

A 15-day full closure of Gipsy Patch Lane is planned to take place during the last week of July and the first week of August, to allow resurfacing of the widened carriageway west of the railway bridge (Rolls-Royce side). A mobile coffee bar in the form of a vintage horsebox is set to be stationed in Stoke Gifford’s Meade Park for four days each week during August. The ‘Deja Brew’ trailer will be located on the grass close to the small visitor car park that is accessed from Hatchet Road. There will be no impact on the capacity of the car park.

Further road resurfacing and maintenance work is set to take place along Gipsy Patch Lane later this month (June) and over the first weekend in July. A full closure will take place overnight on Monday 20th June. This will be followed by one-way closures over the weekends of Friday 24th June to Monday 27th June and Friday 1st July to Monday 4th July.
