With rapid progress being made on the new mixed-use development on land at Fox Den Road, Stoke Gifford, South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) has recently approved a further supplementary planning application for advertising signage at the site.
The development includes an Aldi supermarket, a Costa Coffee drive-through, a Premier Inn hotel and a Beefeater restaurant. Construction got under way in December 2022 and is scheduled to be completed by spring next year (2024).
Planning consent has now been granted for a 6m-high double-sided illuminated totem sign (visualised above) which will display the logos of the four major brands represented at the site.
The totem sign will be located to the north-most tip of the site, close to point B shown in the site plan above. This places the sign adjacent to the Premier Inn and the informal crossing on the Great Stoke Way arm of the Aviva roundabout.
In approving the application, planning officers said the proposed sign would have “no unacceptable visual impacts”. They also said they had no objections on the basis of impact on residential amenity or public safety.
Planning applications for advertising signage relating to the Costa Coffee drive-through unit and the Premier Inn hotel were approved in August 2021 and January 2022 respectively.
