St Michael’s Primary School in Stoke Gifford is celebrating a big win for one of its pupils whose design was picked by metro mayor Dan Norris in his annual Christmas card competition.
Thousands of West of England youngsters got arty in the mayor’s Christmas contest to create some fantastic festive drawings – with the mayor today revealing the final winner.
After careful judging of thousands of entries by the mayor and his staff, eight-year-old Ellie Walters’s design of a festive dog saw off stiff competition to win the contest.
The final card is now being sent to people and organisations right across the West of England and the UK – including to King Charles III over in Buckingham Palace.
Mr Norris, who presented a signed copy of the Christmas card this week at the school’s festive celebration, said:
“With all the amazing entries, my office looks like a winter wonderland right now!”
“Well done to everyone who took part – we really do have some talented youngsters in the West. It was wonderful to see all their brilliant drawings and festive pictures.”
“I’m sure everyone who sees it is going to love Ellie’s design as much as I did!”
