By Emma Smallwood, Gospel Generation Community Choir.
It has been such a joy to have the Stoke Gifford Gospel Choir back rehearsing… in person!
Zoom rehearsals kept us together as a community which we’re so grateful for, plus we did some great choir videos over the lockdown last year!
We have kept some Covid measures in place for our rehearsals, masks need to be worn when people are not seated, the chairs are spaced apart and we ask people to do a lateral flow test on the day (although we don’t check this). I think the choir are happy to stick to these if it means we can meet!
So what are we working towards? We have decided not to have a big Christmas concert but instead focus on some smaller performances out and about. On Saturday 4th December we will be singing at the Filwood Community Market and then on Saturday 11th December we will be singing at 2pm in Broadmead (Bristol) outside M&S and then move into The Galleries at 3pm.
On 26th November we’re going to film a performance of a brand new Christmas song ‘Shine On’ and then make that available on YouTube and other social media pages. This will be first time Stoke Gifford GGCC have been together with the other four GGCC choirs since Christmas 2019!
To find out more about these events, go to www.ggcc.org.uk and if you’re interested in joining the choir then we would love to have you! The choir meets fortnightly on Tuesdays at 7.30pm in the lower hall at the St Michael’s Centre, North Road. Email Emma Smallwood gospelgen@googlemail.com
