Further carriageway surfacing work under the new railway bridge on Gipsy Patch Lane, Little Stoke, is due to get under way tonight (Monday 13th December 2021).
Network Rail and its contractor Alun Griffiths will be surfacing the carriageway and footpath on the south side of the bridge.
The work follows the surfacing of the carriageway on the north side of the bridge which took place in August, ahead of the one-way opening of Gipsy Patch Lane on Monday 6th September.
Completion of the carriageway surfacing has been delayed by the need to install a 7m-deep pumping chamber and two valve chambers, following a redesign of the drainage system.
South Gloucestershire Council recently reported that the valve chambers had been installed on Sunday 5th December.
The latest surfacing work is due to take place overnight from Monday 13th December to Thursday 23rd December, between the hours of 5.30pm and 2.30am – on weeknights only.
The westbound one-way system along Gipsy Patch Lane will remain open during this work.
A spokesperson for South Gloucestershire Council said:
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work. Any questions or issues can be raised via the Network Rail 24-hour helpline on 03457 11 41 41.”
In relation to the upcoming Christmas and New Year period, the spokesperson added:
“No work will be taking place along Gipsy Patch Lane over the festive period. Work will resume on Tuesday 4th January 2022.”
The latest construction programme for the Cribbs Patchway MetroBus Extension project (published 13th December 2021) shows two-way traffic being restored along the full length of Gipsy Patch Lane by the end of September 2022.
