South Gloucestershire Council
Waste and recycling
From Monday 26th December until Saturday 31st December 2022, your normal collection days will change (collections will be made one day later than usual).
For details, see: Changes to collections over Christmas and New Year
From Monday 2nd January 2023 collections will be back to normal.
The Sort It recycling centre at Little Stoke will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. On all other days, the site will be open as normal.
Recycling tips
How to recycle your real Christmas tree (SGC)
Wrapping paper and cards without glitter, foil or plastic can be recycled. Use the scrunch test for wrapping paper – if it stays crunched, recycle it. If it springs back, reuse it or put it in the black bin.
Recycle brown paper from parcels with cardboard. Put extra card in a cardboard box (no larger than your recycling box). Take very large carboard boxes to a Sort It recycling centre.

Stoke Gifford Parish Council
The parish council office at the Community Hall, Little Stoke Park, will close at midday on Friday 23rd December 2022 and reopen on Tuesday 3rd January 2023.
The car park at Little Stoke Park will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. It will close at the earlier than usual time of 6.30pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

State Funeral Bank Holiday 2022 Opening Hours
Monday 19th September 2022, the date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral, will be a national bank holiday.

All council offices and standard services such as the contact centre and One Stop Shops will be closed on Monday 19th September.
An out of office emergency service is available.
Waste and recycling collections
On Monday 19th September waste and recycling collections will not take place.
Do not put your bins or recycling containers out if your collection is due on this day.
To minimise further disruption to the service, we will not run catch up collections the following week.
If your collection is affected, it will take place on your next collection day – Monday 26th September for recycling and Monday 3rd October for black and green bins.
Crews will collect extra recycling the following week and up to two extra black bin bags on your next black bin collection day.
If your green bin is due for collection on Monday 19th September your garden waste subscription will automatically be extended by two weeks.
Sort It recycling centres
The recycling centres will be closed on Monday 19th September and will reopen on Tuesday 20th September.

Waste and recycling collection crews are working on the Easter bank holidays (Friday 15th and Monday 18th April), so there are no changes to collection days. If your collection is due, put your containers out by 7am.
The Sort It recycling centres are open as normal (8:30am – 4:30pm every day).
There are some restrictions and types of waste that can’t be accepted at the Little Stoke site, so check what you can take before you travel.
