A man from Cheswick Village, in Stoke Gifford, has been ordered to pay a total of £1,541 after South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) prosecuted him for fly-tipping waste in a pub car park in Hambrook. CCTV footage showed the driver of a car removing approximately six black bags of household waste which he placed and left in the car park, before driving off.

A further overrun on remedial work taking place on the railway embankment adjacent to the new bridge on Gipsy Patch Lane means that the Station Road junction is now not expected to reopen until later this month. The additional delay is being blamed on the need to carefully phase the works to ensure temporary ground stability, along with issues relating to buried utilities.

A builder from Stoke Gifford has been sentenced at Bristol Magistrates’ Court for offences including aggressive commercial practice, following an investigation by South Gloucestershire Council Trading Standards. One of his victims was a Bradley Stoke resident who paid up front for him to lay a new patio and renew some fencing, but the trader carried out only minimal work and then failed to return.

The latest ‘reserved matters’ planning application is for a further 162 homes on land in the south-east of the site that is still in the ownership of South Gloucestershire Council.

The new M4 MetroBus service running along the £57 million Cribbs Patchway MetroBus Extension (CPME) route began operating today (Sunday 22nd January). Designed to provide an express connection between The Mall at Cribbs Causeway and Bristol Parkway Station, the investment has included the installation of a new railway bridge and brand-new bus lanes on Gipsy Patch Lane.

A man who set fire to 20 vehicles in north Bristol on a single night, causing hundreds of thousands of pounds of damage, has been jailed. The incidents happened in Stoke Gifford, Little Stoke, Patchway and Bradley Stoke in the early hours of Sunday 3rd April last year. A large number of the vehicles were minibuses which belonged to a community transport provider.

One of the new MetroBus stop shelters installed over a year ago on Gipsy Patch Lane has had to be almost completely dismantled and reinstalled due to a design oversight. The work was deemed necessary after it was discovered that there was a “small risk” of vehicles coming into contact with the rear of the shelter’s roof (on the service road side).
