Plans to turn a family home into seven bedsits on a “cramped” estate in Stoke Gifford have been refused by councillors against the advice of officers despite warnings of a costly appeal. Councillors justified their decision on the grounds that a parking survey provided insufficient information because it took place in July when all the students who rent flats in the area and their cars were away.

Lettings management company ordered to pay £2,700 following HMO offences
A Bristol-based lettings management company has been ordered to pay a total of £2,700 in fines and costs after South Gloucestershire Council’s Private Sector Housing Team prosecuted them for failing to obtain Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) licences for two properties located in the Scholars Chase area of Stoke Gifford.
