Bus passengers in Stoke Gifford and Little Stoke will see a number of timetable and route changes coming into effect from Sunday 3rd September. The changes affect First Bus services M4 MetroBus, 19, 73 and Y6. Some journeys on the M4 MetroBus service will be “sped up to avoid excess slack in the timetable”, while the Y6 has a route change between Southmead Hospital and Bristol city centre.

M4 MetroBus service up and running between Cribbs, Parkway & city centre
The new M4 MetroBus service running along the £57 million Cribbs Patchway MetroBus Extension (CPME) route began operating today (Sunday 22nd January). Designed to provide an express connection between The Mall at Cribbs Causeway and Bristol Parkway Station, the investment has included the installation of a new railway bridge and brand-new bus lanes on Gipsy Patch Lane.

One of the new MetroBus stop shelters installed over a year ago on Gipsy Patch Lane has had to be almost completely dismantled and reinstalled due to a design oversight. The work was deemed necessary after it was discovered that there was a “small risk” of vehicles coming into contact with the rear of the shelter’s roof (on the service road side).

The new M4 MetroBus service on the Cribbs Patchway MetroBus Extension route is to start running on Sunday 22nd January 2023, First West of England has announced. Although originally specified as a link between The Mall at Cribbs Causeway and Bristol Parkway, the new service will in fact extend onwards to Bristol city centre via the University of the West of England.

First West of England has been announced as the operator of a planned new MetroBus service on the soon-to-be-completed Cribbs Patchway MetroBus Extension. Buses are expected to start running on the route between Bristol Parkway Station and The Mall at Cribbs Causeway in “spring 2023”.

Public funding is likely to be needed to support services on the new MetroBus route currently being constructed along Gipsy Patch Lane, according to a report by the West of England Combined Authority. If necessary, a procurement exercise will be carried out to ensure a service is in place by early 2023.
